MILANO

Via Spadari / Via Torino

The property unit consists of a sales area located along the axis of Via Torino (corner of Via Spadari) which is part of a building of particular architectural value, dating back to the late nineteenth century.

The building, located on one of the city’s busiest streets, distinguished by the presence of major international mass market brands, has six floors above ground and two below ground and consists of units for commercial and residential use.
The store has five levels, two of which are below ground and three above. The unit has six shop windows and main entrance on the ground floor overlooking Via Torino and four, with an additional entrance, on Via Spadari.

The internal finishes of the sales area are characteristic of the OVS brand, with light coloured stoneware flooring. There are no false ceilings: systems and lighting fixtures are exposed. The vertical connections are guaranteed by a main staircase located in front of the Via Torino entrance, by an escalator and by a new elevator body accessible to customers. There is also a freight elevator to serve the staff.

    The heart of Milan

The property stands in a central location, precisely in the first section of Via Torino, a short distance from Piazza Duomo.

The renowned Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, Palazzo Reale, the Museo del Novecento museum and La Scala theatre are just some of the most important attractions located within a few metres of the property.
The Vittorio Emanuele axis, entirely pedestrianised and flanked by porticoes, presents an uninterrupted succession of commercial fronts, mainly in the clothing sector. Piazza San Babila also has similar characteristics, in addition to its proximity to the “fashion quadrilateral”, namely Via Monte Napoleone and Via della Spiga.

The axis of Via Torino, while hosting different functions, is configured as one of the main commercial streets of the city with an almost uninterrupted front of shop windows on the ground floors of buildings.
Within a radius of one kilometre are some of the main tourist attractions: museums, historical monuments and churches, as well as luxury shops, department stores, offices and exclusive residences.

    History of the building

    An eclectic liberty

Commissioned by the real estate company “Quartiere Torino” and entrusted to the engineer Corrado Rossi, the reconstruction project was completed in 1928. The building was designed to house the offices, warehouses and shops of the Cooperative Union. In a hybrid eclectic-floral style, the building reveals a marked pursuit of monumentality and splendour, to ensure that the new headquarters of the Cooperative would have an aesthetic prestige in keeping with its importance, as well as the central position in which it stood. Previously, there were Renaissance-era dwellings in the same area. One of these, Casa Salimbeni, had a courtyard characterised by the presence of elements in terracotta and granite columns, now located and preserved in the courtyard of the Castello Sforzesco.
